Wellcome K-mer Workshop

A bit behind the times with this one, but I had a wonderful week in June at the Wellcome Genome Campus attending a K-mer Workshop run by Kamil Jaron and colleagues. It was a great opportunity to network with a fantastic group of people researching various aspects of genomics and, of course, learn all about these strings of letters called k-mers that underpin so much of our field! This course forms a solid foundation now upon which to build new skills in population genomics for the MetaBear project in the coming months, and has garnered me new science friends that I hope to see again soon. I highly recommend the Wellcome Connecting Science workshops, in case you're looking at attending a course.
